As the temperature rises in Florida, so does the competition. With only a few weeks left until Districts, the top athletes and teams are starting to focus on their main events and in doing so are throwing down some very quick times. Help us choose what races deserve to be our DyeStat Florida Performance of the Week. Choose the top 3.
Sharrika Barnett Oak Ridge, FL: Barnett drops a US# 1 in the 400m Dash at the Bob Hayes Classic. She ran 53.32 on a day that saw 3 girls crack the US top 5 list.
Kyren Hollis Olympia, FL: Kyren is the latest in a stacked field of 4A competitors to run a very quick 800m. His time of 1:52.25 won the Metro Conference Championships.
Jack Guyton Plant, FL: In a highly anticipated 1600m race, Guyton ran away from the field at the George Steinbrenner Invitational. Guyton’s time of 4:13.16 is currently a US #4.
Samson Moore Gaither, FL: This senior from Gaither made things look easy as he won the 300m Hurdles at the George Steinbrenner Invitational in a quick 36.96.
American FL Boys 4x400 Relay: Competing on the 17th, the boys from American High School in Hialeah, Florida won the GMAC 4x400m relay. Their time of 3:13.28 currently ranks them US #1.
Coral Reef FL Boys 4x800m Relay: Turns out the GMAC Championships was the place to be on Tuesday as the Coral Reefs boys 4x800m relay were one of many to hit a US #1 mark. Winning in a time of 7:50.24, they became the team to beat in a very competitive class 4A.
Krystal Sparling St. Thomas Aquinas, FL: The Texas A & M signee ran a wind legal 11.65 in the 100m dash at the BCAA Championships. Her time is currently a US #3 all conditions and #1 wind legal.
Kimani Rushing Hallandale FL: The defending 2A state champion for the 300m Hurdles ran a quick 42.07 to win the BCAA Championships. Her time currently is currently US #1.
