Recently Community School of Naples Senior, Lindsay Tomaini committed to NCAA D1 Texas Christian University. Lindsay has been a standout for the Seahawks since 8th grade and capped off her Senior XC season with a 4th place finish at the State Meet. We caught up with Lindsay and asked her about the process that lead her to sign with the Horned Frogs.
DSFL - Why the Texas Christian University?
LT - Texas Christian University is a beautiful place! It offers the major I am interested in, the campus is beautiful, and the size is perfect. All of the women on the team were friendly and welcoming.
DSFL - What can you bring to the Horned Frog program?
LT - I believe, with a lot of hard work, I can contribute to the Horned Frog cross country and track program immediately, and that is what makes the opportunity so exciting. Coach Faz and I hit it off from the get go, and I look forward to training with the women on the team and running my best for her.
DSFL - This is a significant commitment announcement for both yourself and the Horned Frogs. How did you get to this point and what other schools did you visit?
LT - In April I went to Texas and met with the coaches at Texas A&M, Baylor and TCU. Additionally, this summer I visited the University of Alabama, the University of South Carolina, and the University of Florida. I took official visits to several schools and thought long and hard about the best fit for me.
DSFL - Can you describe your emotions after making the call to Coach Fazioli?
LT - Letting Coach Faz know that I wanted to run for TCU made for a memorable day! They truly made me an offer I couldn't refuse and I will be so proud to run for and attend TCU. I am very excited!
DSFL - What would you like to pass on to other Seniors going through this process now?
LT - I would say to really try to go and see as many campuses and meet with as many coaches as you can. Obviously, how well you do in track matters quite a bit. This was a very long process that was just as much about seeing which coaches were interested in me as which programs I thought were a good fit. I think the biggest piece of advice I would give is to be open minded. I am a life long gator fan, as both of my parents graduated from UF, but in the end, you get the feeling where you belong. I am ready for a new set of experiences and to see where life takes me.
I want to thank everyone for their well wishes and support. My high school coaches, teachers, teammates, fellow runners and my parents and brother.
