2015 4A cross country state champion and Sarasota senior Adam Bradtmueller is making the trek up to the historic McAlpine Park to run the 37th Annual Foot Locker South Regional Championships, putting his career to the ultimate test as he looks to be one of the 10 guys who make it to San Diego as a Foot Locker Finalist, and one of the few hopefully from the Sunshine State.

DyeStat Florida’s Ka’Deem Wynn caught up with Adam and discussed some of his thoughts coming into this weekend.

Ka’Deem Wynn: You have a lot of guys doing post-season stuff, most notably NXN or Foot Locker. Why Foot Locker?

Adam Bradtmueller:  I chose Foot Locker because of the prestige. It is usually the most competitive of the two meets and I want to surround myself with the best competition to get the best out of myself.

Ka’Deem Wynn: With that, it's safe to assume that you're eyeing one of the 10 spots to San Diego?

Adam Bradtmueller: Yes, making it to states and qualifying for nationals have been my main two goals all season and I already accomplished one so it's time to focus on the next.

Ka’Deem Wynn: What would it mean to you to make it out of the South region?

Adam Bradtmueller: It would really mean alot to me. A lot of great runners have come from the South region and it would be great to put my name up with theirs.

Ka’Deem Wynn: With you being a cross country state champion, do you feel that there's maybe a bit of pressure on you to do well in this race?

Adam Bradtmueller: Not at all. Winning states was great, but it was a very tactical race, so I just want to go out and show that I can perform well in fast race too. But, if it doesn't work out, then I will still be more than satisfied to come away from this season with just a state championship.

Ka’Deem Wynn: Looking back at the season, and all that you've accomplished, has the season gone how you expected?

Adam Bradtmueller: Well, I had a small rough patch towards the middle of the season with my performances at UF and Flrunners. But it's not how you start it's how you finish, so I am pretty satisfied with how everything went. The whole season did not go exactly as expected but it all worked out very well.

Ka’Deem Wynn: Alright man! That's all that I have for you! I'll actually be up in North Carolina  to watch you race! Take care, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Adam.

Adam Bradtmueller: Thanks man, anytime! You too.
