Florida 2A Girls

 

The fight for 2A supremacy will come down to another dog & cat fight between the reigning state champion Bolles Bulldogs and runner up Pine Crest Panthers. Last year only 13 points separated these two in Tallahassee; this year’s race looks even closer for the crown. The Bulldogs bring back 5 from their state team from last year including leaders Mackenzie Wilson and Ally Hajda both of who are well under 19:00. However, the Panthers bring back the individual state champion Julia Montgomery, plus middle school phenom Tsion Yared, as well as Katherine Jovanovic, all sub 19:00. In another close race the teams from Carrollton and Ransom Everglades will duke it out for the last podium spot. Four teams from the super tough Region 4 make the list with 3 of those in the top 4!

Florida 2A Boys

 

Just one year is all it took for the Trinity Prep Saints to climb to the top of 2A after moving up a classification from 1A. It looks like Coach Vinal’s harriers are set to make it two in a row behind his trademark pack running. The returning top 4 are within 15 seconds and the varsity 7 bring a split of under a minute. The McKeel Academy Wildcats stand the best chance of getting a run on the reigning champs with their own sub 40 second 1 – 5 split but will need to drop some times if they want to unseat them. Gabriel Correa is the top individual returner in 2A and can possibly get his Ransom Everglades team into the top 5 if his teammates can drop some time. Lake Highland Prep and Bishop Kenny will bring it down to the wire for the third and fourth spot at the state meet.
