Florida 1A Girls

 

Despite losing senior Julie Wollrath to 3A Melbourne HS, Holy Trinity is still the team to beat in 1A this season but if any team stands a chance of dethroning the reigning state champs it would be the hard charging harriers from Oak Hall School in Gainesville. The Eagles, lead by Lauren Perry, can pack their top 5 within 30 seconds from each other and all below 19:30. The Tigers on the other hand return three runners who can run under 19:00 and 5 that are under 20:00. Dark horse Evangelical Christian School has the top returning girl in 1A, Sarah Candiano, which along with fellow Senior Jill Richter makes for a pretty good one two punch. If Coach Penberthy can coax a little more speed out of his 3-4-5 the Sentinels could be in the mix at the end as well. Any way you slice it this season will be a great one to watch especially Region 3, which have 5 teams ranked in the top ten.
