3A Girls Rankings

By: Steve Farnsworth, Lecanto HS, [email protected]

Team Rankings:

Commentary:  It was a weird first week.  Some teams ran hard, some ran easy, others didn’t run at all; one team had a relay meet.  There were fast courses, slow courses, wet courses and maybe even a short course or two.  The rankings are based on 2015 times except for the teams that didn’t run – they’re still being evaluated on 2014 times, but they tended to drift lower due to inactivity.  The rankings are not solely based on team averages and do not follow them completely – other factors are considered.

Rank, (Previous Rank), Team, Region, Team Average = Comments

1. (12) Ponte Vedra, 1, 20.29. The Sharks vault to the top after hammering the field at Bob Hans Invite.

2. (1) Ft. Myers, 3, 20:48. The Green Wave may still be the best team in 3A, but they were unimpressive in winning the Caloosahatchee Riverdale Invite.

3. (2) Chiles, 1, DNR.  The Timberwolves are still a strong team, but were weakened by the transfer of their No. 4 runner.

4. (8) Nease, 1, 21:06. The Panthers finished third at the Spurs and Spikes Classic

5. (4) Ft. Walton Beach, 1, 20:54.   The Vikings won the Cougar XC Challenge with a team average of 21:17.

22. (18) Palmetto Ridge, 3, 22:59. The Bears were fourth at the Caloosahatchee Riverdale Invite.

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: 2015 times are being used for the rankings for active runners.  2014 XC times are still being used to evaluate athletes that haven’t run yet in 2015, but these runners tend to drop in the rankings due to inactivity. 2015 season bests are not the sole factor in rankings as other factors are considered.
