MARIETTA — Logan Poteet entered the cross country season with a target on his back.
As the defending Class AAAAA state champion, the Kell runner knew he was the one to beat, and in order to solidify his hold on the title, he would have to train even harder than he did last season.
“I did a lot of work — more than I’ve ever done this summer — and it carried over into my season,” said Poteet, who didn’t let a midseason injury deter any of his goals.
“Unfortunately, halfway through my season I started developing some hamstring problems, so that was a bit of an issue. I still managed to work through it, and I think, because of my summer training, I was able to push through that and continue doing what I needed to do.”
