Bishop Kenny's David Yarborough commits to Florida Southern CollegePublished by
David was 2nd in the 2012 XC State Championships and was the 2013 State Track and Field Champion in the 1600m.
Cory Sayyeau asked David a few questions about his decision to ultimately commit to the Moccasins.
What made you chose Florida Southern as the college you wanted to go to?
I was looking at some bigger schools, but finally realized that I was better fit for a smaller school. After filling out the questionnaire at Florida Southern, Coach [Ben] Martucci contacted me right away and promised big things. After visiting at the end of January, I felt like I was going to be a great fit at their program. After their success this year and the great class we're bringing in this year, I couldn't pass up the opportunities offered here at Florida Southern! Florida Southern had a great year last year. With new additions to the team, what is Florida Southern going to get out of you? Florida Southern is getting a runner who is willing to put the needs of the team before his own. They are getting someone that will give 100% every single day in order to make the team the best it can be. They are getting a runner who is committed to everything team.
A lot of kids look up to you for being an elite athlete. What can you say for younger runners wanting to have the success you've had?
The biggest thing is listen to your coaches. They know best and have your best intentions in mind. The key to success is determination and giving 110% every single day. |
Bishop Kenny's David Yarborough made it official today announcing via twitter that he had signed his National Letter of Intent to compete for Coach Ben Martucci's Florida Southen College Moccasins, joining fellow signee Stanton Prep's Eric Tallbacka amongst this years commitments.
